Who Are They? ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association) is the only not-for-profit professional organization dedicated to the improvement and welfare of the automatic transmission repair industry for the benefit of the motoring public. Founded in 1954, we are the worlds oldest and largest network of independently owned and operated transmission rebuilding firms with members located throughout the United States and Canada as well as 22 other countries.

What They Do? They provide technical assistance to our members in the form of a technical Help Line which fields over 55,000 technical assistance calls per year. They disseminate both technical and business information from our magazine (GEARS), authoring books, bulletins, regional seminars, expositions and internet programs. They offer a nationwide warranty program for members and their consumers, EPA information, arbitrate consumer concerns, consumer financing program, group insurance programs, electronic data capture program, credit union membership, and a host of other business services which most independent business owners would not be able to provide for themselves.

Whom They Serve? ATRA serves as a non-profit nationwide association to provide the most current technical information to the automatic transmission industry as well as providing consumers with automotive knowledge.
